地图题专练 No.06 — Turtle Conservation Area

Now listen and answer questions 20 to 26. The turtle conservation area is quite large so here's a map so you can find your way around tomorrow. If you look at the bottom of your map you can see the main entrance in the middle.

If you get hungry while waiting for the turtles the Flipper Cafe serves light meals, snacks and drinks. You can see it as you look at the map just to the left of the turtle centre. I usually wait in there if you need to find me for any reason.

There's a great new cycle track and bikes are available for hire. The tour bus will drop you off in the public car park. You can hire a bike near there in the small building between the cycle track and main road.

Before it gets too dark I suggest taking a look at the outdoor artwork wall featuring environmental works from local artists. Just follow the boardwalk to Coconut Beach — it's on the left.

If you're interested in marine biology stop by the research hub. When you come out of the turtle centre and walk towards the ocean it's the first building you see between two of the boardwalks. Just be careful when you cross the cycle track.

A great space to watch outdoor performances is the amphitheatre. Follow the boardwalk that goes to the headland, walk through the trees and it's at the end. You can't miss it. Just be aware if the weather's bad the shows may have to be called off.

Many visitors come back to this area again and again. Next time you could stay in the campsite near Pearl Beach. You can see the campsite near the beach amongst the trees. We sometimes have turtles wandering very close to the tents at night.

Now, I'm sure you're all keen to visit the hatchling nursery. Can you see the staff car park at the bottom right of your map? The nursery is just opposite the cycle track from there. Seeing the cute baby turtles is a must before you leave.
