Now listen and answer questions 21 to 26. Now I'd like to talk about our upcoming fishing weekend at Kirrali National Park and show you some of the fishing spots we'll try. Let's take a look at the map.
We'll set up camp at Kanungra Head. It's a picturesque spot with great views. Can you see the lighthouse in the bottom right of the map? Kanungra Head is between that and the mouth of the smaller river. We can fish from the bridge but we'll also launch our boats from there.
At Coomera Rocks we'll try fishing for snapper. We'll have to get there in boats. It's on the island furthest from the shore and the rocks face out to the open ocean so we get big swells coming in there. We're sometimes lucky enough to spot migrating whales going past in the distance.
Kurrajong Point is a fishing spot where we've had quite a bit of success in the past. It's on the island that's furthest to the east on your map. It faces back towards the shore so it's quite protected and the waters there are calmer.
We'll also try Banderah Rock. It's on the mainland on the point that sticks out into the sea between the two rivers. We fish off the rocks there and often do pretty well and if not, well the beautiful view is enough to keep us happy.
And if you want to go off on your own, Nurrumbin Point is a great spot which is normally teeming with fish and sometimes even squid at this time of year. You get there by crossing the bridge over the wider of the two rivers. Then you can fish just north of where the river meets the sea.
Another place you can fish is Juranbah Reach. It's a pleasant spot that's well worth a try. It's on the north bank of the smaller river, a little way down from the bridge. There's some shade nearby where you can eat your sandwiches.
